Capturing Washtenaw County - The Art & Business of Early Photography
Much of what we know about our county's past is from the oral histories, newspaper articles, diaries, journals and letters of early settlers. Much of what we know of the visual appearance our buildings, residents and events can be attributed to local photographers. This exhibit will open your eyes to what it was like to be in the photography business back in it's early days. From equipment to services, you'll learn about many of the photographers; how to date and identify physical features that give clues to photo mysteries; and how an Ann Arbor company's camera changed the industry of personal photography. You can even take your own family portraits or selfies in our salon setting.
Free and open to the public.
Groups and students are welcome!
